1. Energy Efficiency & Glass Options

Q: What is Low-E glass, and do I need it for my home?

A: Low-E (Low-Emissivity) glass has a thin, microscopic coating that reflects heat away while letting natural light pass through. In hotter months, it keeps solar heat out to lower cooling costs; in cooler months, it retains indoor heat. Given the Southern California climate, Low-E glass is standard for keeping energy bills down and protecting furniture from UV fading.

Q: What is the difference between double-pane and triple-pane windows?

A: Double-pane windows feature two panes of glass separated by an insulating gas spacer (like argon), offering substantial thermal insulation and sound reduction over single-pane windows. Triple-pane windows add a third pane and second insulating gap for maximum energy efficiency and sound dampening—ideal for homes near busy streets or severe weather zones.

Q: Why is tempered glass required in wildfire hazard zones?

A: In High and Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (WUI zones), building codes mandate that exterior windows and glass doors use multi-pane units with at least one pane of tempered glass. Standard glass shatters quickly when exposed to intense radiant heat, allowing embers into the home. Tempered glass is heat-treated to be up to four times stronger, resisting thermal shock and flying debris. If it does break, it disintegrates into small granular pieces rather than sharp shards.

Q: Which frame material is right for my project?

Vinyl: A cost-effective, low-maintenance option that provides excellent energy efficiency and weather resistance without needing painting or refinishing.

Wood / Clad-Wood: Delivers timeless aesthetic warmth on the interior with weather-resistant exterior aluminum cladding to protect against the elements.

Fiberglass: Extremely durable, low-maintenance, and dimensionally stable—meaning it won’t warp, swell, or shrink as temperatures fluctuate. Fiberglass provides exceptional seal durability, high energy efficiency, and slim frame profiles.

Q: What are bi-fold and multi-slide door systems?

A: Both are large-panel glass door systems designed to connect indoor and outdoor living spaces. Bi-fold doors fold like an accordion against the jamb when open, creating a wide opening. Multi-slide doors slide along parallel tracks, with options to stack neatly at the end or tuck into a wall pocket out of sight.

A: Some manufacturer’s provide a target ship date and the date may be subject to change.

Q: What warranties come with the windows and doors you sell?
